Antwort:

The mute relay coil does not
attract, although the coil itself is intact (measured and checked).
Switch 6, at the top of the front rocker switch, is also OK.
Nevertheless, the mute relay coil simply does not receive any voltage
and therefore an unpleasant, loud crackling noise is heard when the
magazine motor starts to turn. The amplifier is always on, i.e. it hums
slightly, and if you touch the stylus with your finger, it rattles
loudly.
I have traced everything using the circuit diagram and was also able to
rule out the scan control box as the source of the fault. What could be
the cause?
Answer:
One cause could be a broken or torn cable.
The voltage at the relay should be measured. It has already happened
that the relay was supplied with power but still did not move. The cause
is usually a sticky contact (the contact that is supposed to bridge the
series resistor after the 5U4) or some kind of mechanical obstruction,
e.g. a foreign object, that prevents it from being energized.
If there is no voltage at the relay, but all other functions (selecting,
placing record on the turntable and returning it) are OK, the only
possible cause can be the wiring.
To do this, find a safe ground point (common wire in the circuit diagram)
to which you can connect a multimeter test lead. Now measure the voltage
from the microswitch at all connection points (marked as numbered boxes
in the circuit diagram, the numbers are the pin numbers on the
respective plug connection) up to the amplifier or the coil connections.
The cable should be interrupted somewhere here.
Of course, there must only be voltage at one of the coil connections (if
no record is playing). If there is voltage at both connections (measured
against the good earth point), then the line from the coil to earth is
interrupted. This wire goes back the same way - I think also via the
same connectors - and is connected to the common wire somewhere on the
chassis.
It is very important to find a really good ground point that actually
corresponds to the common wire on the wiring diagram, and that all
voltage measurements are made against this point. Using a bad ground
point as a reference potential would falsify the measurement result and
mislead.

What is the meaning of
the power level switch on amplifier in models JAO, JAN? There
are 4 positions for the power level : 0.2 , 1.4, 5.5 and 22 Watt. |
22 Watt
E1 rechts: Rechter Mitteltöner gelbes Kabel - Molex Pin 6
E6 links: Rechter Mitteltöner weißes Kabel - Molex Pin 3
E2 rechts: Mittiger Lautsprecher blaues Kabel - Molex Pin 4
E2 links: Mittiger Lautsprecher orange Kabel - Molex Pin 1
E1 links: Linker Mitteltöner grünes Kabel - Molex Pin 2
E6 rechts: Linker Mitteltöner rotes Kabel - Molex Pin 5 |

This switch is used when the
inside jukebox speakers are wired through the molex
socket rather than on the E1 to E6 terminals left and right. The switch
connects the E terminals to the speakers at the following switch
positions - for example:
22 watts
E1 Right: Right midrange speaker yellow cable pin 6 on molex
E6 Left: Right midrange speaker white cable pin 3 on molex
E2 Right: Center speakers Blue cable pin 4 on molex
E2 Left: Center speakers Orange pin 1 on molex
E1 Left: Left midrange speaker green cable pin 2 on molex
E6 Right: Left midrange speaker red cable pin 5 on molex |
