Man hört bei geringen Lautstärken sehr stark das Surren des Plattentellermotors im Lautsprecher. Es liegt weder an der Justierung des Tonarmgewichtes noch am Antriebsrad, beides wurde überprüft. Vermutlich liegt es an den Gummiaufhängungen des Motors. Diese werden im Laufe der Jahre spröde, bröckeln auseinander und lagern den Plattentellermotor nicht mehr gut. Dann werden die Vibrationen des Motors nicht genügend absorbiert und es überträgt sich in den Ton. Bis zum Modell 443 befanden sich in den Lagergummis zusätzlich Distanzhülsen, die für die exakte Einstellung nicht fehlen dürfen. Sie verhindern zudem, dass man die Schrauben zu weit reindreht und die Wicklungen des Motors beschädigen. This is not due to the adjustment of the tonearm weight or the drive wheel, both of which have been checked. It is probably due to the rubber grommets of the motor. These become brittle over the years, crumble apart and no longer support the platter motor well. Hence the vibrations of the turntable motor do not get absorbed well any longer and get transferred into the sound. Up to model 443, there were additional distance sleeves in the rubber grommets, which should not be missed for precise adjustment. They also avoid that the screws can be tightened to far and then harm the motor windings.

Meine Rock-Ola hat allgemein einen sehr dumpfen Klang, obwohl die beiden oberen Hochtonlautsprecher funktionieren. Vermutlich liegen Verstärkerprobleme vor. Potis oder Schalter für Bässe und Höhen sollten gereinigt und die Kondensatoren eventuell erneuert werden.		My Rock-Ola generally has a muffled sound, although the two upper tweeters work. Die Rock-Ola (hier Modell 441) funktioniert und spielt die Platten ab. Jedoch ist im Hintergrund ein tiefes Brummen. Wenn man die Lautstärke leiser dreht, bleibt das Brummen gleich laut, so dass, wenn man leise Musik hören will, die Musik vom Brummen übertönt wird. Man kann nur laut spielen, damit das Brummen übertönt wird. Ist das so bei alten Geräten, oder ist da ein Teil defekt? Ich glaube es kommt von da, wo die Transistoren an der Rückwand oben montiert sind, bin mir aber nicht sicher. Antwort: Zunächst sollte herausgefunden werden, ob das Brummen wirklich vom Verstärker kommt. Evtl. sind die drei Lagergummis, die den Plattentellermotor lagern, spröde, porös oder nur noch teilweise vorhanden. Dann hängt der Plattenteller nicht in der Waage, was Geräusche und einen unsauberen Lauf verursachen kann. Zum Testen: Eine Single abspielen und den Tonarm von der Platte heben: wenn es jetzt wesentlich besser wird, sind es wahrscheinlich die Lagergummis. Abhilfe: Auswechseln der Lagergummis. Bitte prüfen Sie, ob die Distanzhülsen in den Gummis noch vorhanden sind (bis zum Modell R.O. 443). Sie verhindern u. a., dass die Schrauben zu weit in den Motor gedreht werden können und somit die Wicklung beschädigen. Während des Abspielens den Stecker vom Tonarm zum Verstärker abziehen: ist das Brummen nicht weg, wird es vom Verstärker kommen. Mögliche Abhilfe: alle Schalter und Schieberegler vielmals hin- und herbewegen (nacheinander). Diese Regler sind oft jahrelang nicht bewegt worden und funktionieren somit nicht einwandfrei. Das Brummen ist nicht weg, wenn der Verstärker abgeklemmt ist - dann liegt das Problem woanders - ggfs. die Vorschaltgeräte der Leuchtstofflampen überprüfen. Dann würde es aber auch brummen, wenn keine Single spielt und der Verstärker stumm geschaltet ist.		The Rock-Ola (here model 441) works and plays the records. Answer: Firstly, you should find out whether the humming is really coming from the amplifier. The three rubber grommets that support the turntable motor may be brittle, porous or only partially present. If this is the case, the turntable is out of balance, which can cause noise and rough running. To test: Let a record play and lift the tonearm off the record: If it gets much better now, it is probably the rubber grommets being worn. Remedy: Replace the rubber grommets. Please check whether the distance sleeves in the rubbers are still present (up to model R.O. 443). Among other things, they prevent the screws from being turned too far into the motor and thus damaging the winding. During playing, disconnect the plug from the tonearm to the amplifier: If the hum is not gone, it is coming from the amplifier. Possible remedy: Move all switches and sliders back and forth many times (one after the other). These controls knobs have often not been moved for years and therefore do not work properly. The humming does not go away when the amplifier is disconnected - then the problem lies elsewhere - if necessary, check the ballasts of the fluorescent lamps. But in this case the hum would also be heard when no record is playing and the amplifier muted.
