Seeburg A/B-Seiten Umschaltung

In der Regel werden zunächst alle Wahlen einer Seite, dann die der anderen abgespielt. Das heißt, am Ende schaltet das Laufwerk auf die andere Seite um (A/B-Umschalter).
Bei den Modellen LPC1, LPC480, PFEA1U und APFEA1 jedoch werden die A und B-Seiten direkt nacheinander gespielt, vorausgesetzt beide wurden gewählt. Es werden dabei beide Impulsverstärker getriggert. Der Impulsverstärker schaltet aber nicht das Trip Solenoid direkt, sondern erst einmal die beiden Relays (Right Side und Left Side Relay) in der Tormatsteuerung. Über Kontakte im Laufwerk werden dann die Kontakte auf diesen Relais abgefragt und nacheinander A-Seite und B-Seite abgespielt.

As a rule, first all selections of one side get played, then those of the other sides. This means that the carriage switches to the other side at the end (A/B switch).
On the LPC1, LPC480, PFEA1U and APFEA1 models, however, the A and B sides are played directly one after the other, provided that both have been selected. Both pulse amplifiers are triggered. However, the pulse amplifier does not switch the trip solenoid directly, but first switches the two relays (right side and left side relay) in the tormat control unit. The contacts on these relays are then queried via contacts in the carriage and the A-side and B-side are played in sequence.

Eine Seeburg LPC spielt nach dem Wählen von A1 - U1 (A Seiten) auch immer die B Seite mit.

Ich denke, dass die LPC auf „Album Play“ steht. Einige Seeburg Versionen hatten die Möglichkeit, beide Seiten nacheinander abzuspielen. Überprüfen Sie die Service Schalter. Ich glaube, dass alle Drähte mit der ersten Stiftreihe verbunden sein müssen. Dann wird nur eine Seite der Schallplatte abgespielt.
Wenn die Drähte 1 und 2 mit der zweiten Stiftreihe verbunden sind, wird die ganze Single abgespielt.

A Seeburg LPC plays after selecting A1 - U1 ( A sides) as well always the B-sides.

I think that the LPC is on "Album Play". Some versions of Seeburg had the possibility to play both side one after the other. Check the service switch assembly. I believe that all wires must be connected to the first row of pins. Then it will play only one side of the record.
If wire 1 and 2 are connected to the second row of pins it will play the whole record.
This is the same option with a Seeburg LPC480 and Fleetwood (APFEA1U).

Der Vorgang ist folgendermaßen: wenn sowohl A-Seite als auch B-Seite einer Platte gewählt wurde, ziehen Left Side Relay und Right Side Relay an. Beide Relais haben einen Kontakt, der das Trip Solenoid betätigt. Das Laufwerk stoppt und die Platte wird aufgelegt, ohne das Reversing Relay zu betätigen. Das Left Side Relay fällt ab und die Platte wird gespielt. Wenn die Platte zurückgelegt wird, ist immer noch das Right Side Relay angezogen. Das Trip Solenoid zieht also sofort wieder an, sobald das Laufwerk in den Scan Modus schaltet, wobei diesmal das Reversing Relay ebenfalls anzieht und die Drehrichtung des Motors umkehrt.
Wenn nur eine B-Seite gewählt wird, zieht nur das Right Side Relay an. Weil das Left Side Relay nicht angezogen ist, zieht auch das Reversing Relay an.
Das Reversing Relay bekommt seine Betriebsspannung (25VAC) über Mechanismusstecker P1102 - Pin 2
Der andere Anschluß geht an den Cam Switch S1109 - Kontakt 3M3. Dieser ist im Scan Modus geschlossen.
Die Leitung geht über P/J1106 an den Mechanismusstecker P1102 - Pin 12.
Im SCC geht es weiter an das Right Side Relay - Kontakt 2C12. Dieser schließt, wenn das Relais anzieht.
Von dort geht es weiter an das Left Side Relay - Kontakt 1C2. Der Kontakt ist geschlossen, wenn das Relais nicht angezogen ist und stellt die Verbindung zu Masse her. 

The process is as follows: If both A-side and B-side of a record have been selected, the left side relay and right side relay are energized. Both relays have a contact that actuates the trip solenoid. The carriage stops and the record is picked up without activating the reversing relay. The left side relay de-energizes and the record is played. When the record is returned, the right side relay is still energized. The trip solenoid is therefore immediately energized again as soon as the carriage switches to scan mode, whereby this time the reversing relay is also energized and the direction of rotation of the motor is reversed.
If only a B-side is selected, only the right side relay is energized. Because the left side relay is not energized, the reversing relay is also energized.
The reversing relay receives its operating voltage (25VAC) via mechanism  plug P1102 - pin 2
The other connection goes to cam switch S1109 - contact 3M3. This is closed in scan mode.
The wire goes via P/J1106 to the mechanism plug P1102 - pin 12.
In the SCC it continues to the Right Side Relay - contact 2C12. This closes when the relay is energized.
From there it continues to the left side relay - contact 1C2. The contact is closed when the relay is not energized and establishes the connection to ground.

Bei einer Seeburg LS 2 (Gem) werden immer nur die B-Seiten gespielt. Die Wahl der A-Seite endet mit 2x scannen und nichts wählen.

Schau dir doch mal den Abtastkontakt der A-Seite am Tormat an sowie das dazu gehörende Kabel. Sollte der Fehler da nicht liegen, besteht noch die Möglichkeit, dass der Umschaltkontakt für den Links / Rechts Lauf nicht in Ordnung ist. Dieser besteht noch aus einem anderen Kontaktpaar welches, für die Wahlabtastung zuständig ist.

With a Seeburg LS 2 (Gem), only the B-sides get played at all. Selecting the A-side ends with scanning twice and selecting nothing.

Have a look at the scanning contact of the A-side on the Tormat and the associated cable. If the fault is not there, there is also the possibility that the switchover contact for the left/right scan is not working properly. This switchover contact consists of another pair of contacts which is responsible for scanning the selections.

Diese Modelle nehmen eine Sonderstellung bei der Fehlersuche ein. Die Read-Out-Kreise für beide Plattenseiten sind zusammengefasst. Das heißt, wenn eine Plattenseite funktioniert, ist davon auszugehen, dass das komplette Auslesen (Spannungserzeugung, Read-Out-Kontakte auf Tormat, Detent Switch usw.) in Ordnung ist. Dafür gibt es zwei Sensorschleifen, zwei Impulsverstärker, zwei Thyratrons 2050 und zwei Relais, getrennt für A- und B-Seite.

Wenn nur eine Seite nicht funktioniert, kann es eigentlich nur an diesen Teilen liegen. Die Impulsleitung sollte gemessen und die Relais auf Funktion geprüft werden. Impulsverstärker sowie die Röhren 2050 kann man probeweise vertauschen. Die Impulsverstärker stecken in einer Fassung und sind nur mit einer Schraube (neben der Röhre) befestigt. Wenn der Fehler dann auf die andere Seite wandert, liegt es an diesem Teil. Wenn der Fehler trotzdem unverändert bleibt, ist der Fehler in der Beschaltung der entsprechenden 2050 zu suchen.
Wenn sich herausstellt, dass der Fehler am Impulsverstärker liegt, ist vermutlich der 5,6 Ohm Widerstand und/oder der 50nF Kondensator bzw. die 12AX7 die Ursache.

These models have a special status in troubleshooting. The read-out circuits for both sides of the board are combined. This means that if one side of the board is working, it can be assumed that the complete read-out circuit (generating voltage, read-out contacts on tormat, detent switch, etc.) is OK. There are two sensor loops, two pulse amplifiers, two thyratrons 2050 and two relays, separate for the A and B sides.

If only one side is not working, it can only be due to these parts. The pulse line should be measured and the relays checked for function. Pulse amplifiers and the 2050 tubes can be swapped on a trial basis. The pulse amplifiers are in a socket and are only fastened with one screw (next to the tube). If the fault then moves to the other side, it is due to this part. If the error remains unchanged, the fault is to be found in the wiring of the corresponding 2050.


If it turns out that the fault is in the pulse amplifier, the cause is probably the 5.6 Ohm resistor and/or the 50nF capacitor or the tube 12AX7.
 

Bei einer Seeburg wird immer nur eine Seite der Single gespielt. Es wird keine andere Seite genommen.
Es kommen mehrere Ursachen infrage:

• Der Umschalter von A- auf B-Seite (Reversing Switch) wird nicht entsprechend geschaltet. Er befindet sich unter dem Laufwerk und wird bei jedem seitlichen Anschlag des Laufwerks aktiviert. Ursachen können Verharzungen oder Kontaktprobleme sein.

• Der Sucherkontakt ist dejustiert. Die Umschaltung des Read-Out-Stromkreises erfolgt mechanisch. Unter dem Tormat sind die Sucherkontakte montiert. Durch einen Kunststoffschieber wird der jeweils nicht verwendete Kontakt abgehoben. Der Kunststoffschieber läuft beim Erreichen der linken oder rechten Endposition auf einen Anschlag auf und wird dabei verschoben. Möglicherweise wurde einmal die Laufrichtung händisch umgeschaltet, ohne dass das Laufwerk die Endposition erreicht hat. Dadurch läuft der Sucherkontakt in die falsche Richtung, stößt sich an den Kontaktnieten des Tormat und wird verbogen oder beschädigt.

• Der Tormat könnte horizontal etwas verschoben sein. Einstellung:
  Man lässt das Laufwerk etwa bis zur Mitte des Plattenmagazins laufen und schaltet den Strom ab. Dann dreht man an der Motorwelle, bis der Detent Switch geschlossen ist. Auf dem Detent Switch ist ein Abdeckblech montiert, das abnehmbar ist. Dann kontrolliert man, ob der Sucherkontakt genau mittig auf der Kontaktniete steht. Bei Bedarf korrigiert man die horizontale Position des Tormat - Balkens. Dann läßt man das Laufwerk weiterlaufen und stoppt es wieder, wenn es aus der anderen Richtung in die Mitte des Plattenmagazins kommt. Danach dreht man wieder händisch weiter, bis der Detent Switch geschlossen ist und kontrolliert, ob nun der andere Suchkontakt genau mittig auf der Kontaktniete steht. Normalerweise sollte das der Fall sein. Wenn es aber eine größere Abweichung gibt, ist das ein Zeichen dafür, dass einer der Kontakte verbogen ist.

• Abtastkontakt der A-Seite am Tormat sowie das dazu gehörende Kabel (bei Modellen ab V200)

In a Seeburg, only one side of the record gets played at all. No other side is taken.
There are several possible causes:

• The switch from A to B side (reversing switch) is not switched accordingly. It is located below the carriage and is activated each time the carriage hits the side. Causes can be resin build-up or contact problems.

• The search contact is misaligned. The read-out circuit is switched mechanically. The search contacts are mounted under the tormat. The not employed contact is lifted by a plastic slider. When the left or right end position is reached, the plastic slider rises up against a stop and is moved. It is possible that one day the running direction has been switched manually without the carriage having reached the end position. As a result, the search contact runs in the wrong direction, hits the contact rivets of the Tormat and is bent or damaged.
  
   

• The tormat could have been slightly shifted horizontally. Adjustment:
  Let the carriage run to about the middle of the record magazine and switch off power. Then turn the motor shaft until the detent switch is closed. A removable cover plate is mounted on the detent switch. Then check that the search contact is exactly centered on the contact rivet. If necessary, correct the horizontal position of the Tormat bar. Then allow the carriage to continue running and stop it again when it reaches the center of the record magazine from the other direction. Then continue turning manually until the detent switch is closed and check whether the other search contact is now exactly centered on the contact rivet. Normally this should be the case. However, if there is a major deviation, this is a sign that one of the contacts is bent.
  
   

• Scanning contact of the A-side on the Tormat and the associated cable (on models from V200)

Eine Seeburg DS wählt jede ausgesuchte Platte an, außer der letzten B-Seite.

Das könnte ein mechanisches Problem bzw. ein Einstellproblem sein. Wahrscheinlich wird die Laufrichtung des Laufwerks zu früh umgeschaltet.
Es dürfte genügen, wenn der Anschlag, der den Umschaltkontakt betätigt, um einige Millimeter verschoben wird.

This could be a mechanical resp. a problem of mis-adjustemt. Most likely the running direction of the carriage is switched too early.
It should be sufficient if the stop that actuates the switchover contact is shifted by a few millimeters.

Die Fleetwood wählt und spielt alle A-Seiten ohne Probleme, nimmt aber keine B-Seiten. Alle Kontakte sind Kontakte gereinigt. Wird eine B-Seite manuell gewählt, nimmt sie sie, stellt sie danach aber wieder in das Magazin, zieht sie wieder heraus und spielt sie, bis man manuell unterbricht.

Die Fleetwood hat, im Gegensatz zu den meisten anderen Modellen, zwei Impulsleitungen, zwei Impulsverstärker und zwei Trip Relais. Sie sucht die A- und B-Seiten nur, während das Laufwerk von links nach rechts läuft. Beim Zurücklaufen wird die Suchfunktion unterdrückt. Der Reversing Switch schaltet nicht direkt den Motor, sondern das Reversing Relais und dieses schaltet den Motor um. Das Reversing Relais schaltet auch um, wenn eine B- Seite gespielt werden soll.
Nachdem sowohl die A- als auch die B-Seiten beim Suchlauf von links nach rechts gesucht werden, gibt es keine Umschaltung der Read-Out-Kontakte. Der Abfrageimpuls geht über einen Sucherkontakt, durch beide Magnetkerne gleichzeitig. Es kann also ein Impulsverstärker oder beide schalten, je nach dem, welche Titel gewählt wurden. Wenn beide Seiten gewählt wurden, ziehen beide Trip Relais im SCC an. Es wird dann zuerst die A-Seite gespielt und das A-Relais fällt ab. Danach wird das Reversing Relais im Laufwerk eingeschaltet, die Drehrichtung des Motors umgeschaltet und die B-Seite gespielt.

Für den Fehler an Deiner Musikbox gibt es mehrere Möglichkeiten. Die Impulsleitung für die B-Seiten könnte unterbrochen sein. Das kann man mit dem Ohmmeter messen. Zwischen Mittelstift und Abschirmung sollte ein widerstand von einigen Ohm zu messen sein. Der Impulsverstärker (der Thyristor, der das B-Relais einschaltet) könnte defekt sein. Weiters könnte das B-Relais defekt sein. Es kann aber auch sein, dass das Relais anzieht, aber die Kontakte darauf schlecht durchschalten. Es gibt auch Kontakte im Laufwerk, die das Relais abfallen lassen, wenn die Platte gespielt wird.
Um den Fehler einzukreisen, solltest Du einmal die beiden Impulsleitungen vertauschen. Wenn Du dann eine B-Seite wählst, sollte die A-Seite der Platte gespielt werden. Wenn es so ist, dürfte der Fehler im Bereich Impulsverstärker oder B-Relais zu suchen sein.

The Fleetwood selects and plays all A-sides without any problems, but does not take any B-sides. All contacts are cleaned. If a B-side is selected manually, it gets taken, but then returns right away into the magazine, picks up again and plays it until it gets manually interrupted.

Unlike most other models, the Fleetwood has two pulse lines, two pulse amplifiers and two trip relays. It also searches A and B sides only while the carriage is scanning from left to right. The search function is suppressed when scanning back. The reversing switch does not switch the motor directly, but the reversing relay and this switches the motor. The reversing relay also switches when a B-side is to be played.

Since both the A.sides and the B-sides are searched from left to right while scanning, there is no switching of the read-out contacts. The search pulse is sent via a search contact, through both magnetic cores simultaneously. This means that one or both pulse amplifiers can switch, depending on which titles have been selected. If both sides of the record have been selected, both trip relays in the SCC are energised. The A side is then played first and the A relay de-energises. The reversing relay in the carriage is then switched on, the direction of rotation of the motor is changed and the B-side is played.

There are several possibilities for the fault in your jukebox. The pulse line for the B-sides could be interrupted. This can be measured with an ohmmeter. A resistance of a few ohms should be measured between the centre pin and the shield. The pulse amplifier (the thyristor that switches on the B relay) could be defective. The B relay could also be defective. However, it is also possible that the relay is energised but the contacts on it are not switching through properly. There are also contacts in the carriage that cause the relay to de-energise when the record gets played.
To localise the fault, you should swap the two pulse lines. If you then select a B-side, the A-side of the record should be played. If this is the case, the fault is probably to be found in the pulse amplifier or the B relay.
