Park position: Home position of carriage

Die Parkposition des Laufwerkes ist je nach Modell unterschiedlich:

Modelle M100A, M100B, M100C, HF100G, 100W, HF100R, 100J
Die Single wird nach dem Abspielen nur halb ins Magazin gelegt. Das ist so bei allen Modellen mit mechanischer Wahlleiste (sog. Pinbank). Erst wenn eine neue Platte gewählt wird, legt der Mechanismus die Platte weg und scannt, bis er die nächste Wahl gefunden hat.
Modelle ab V200 / VL200 - mit Tormat:
Die Parkstellung ist rechts. Nach jeder Wahl fährt das Laufwerk zwei Mal hin- und her. Wenn es zum zweiten Mal nach der letzten Wahl die rechte Endposition erreicht, dann bleibt es rechts stehen.

Zurücklegen der Single bei 100J

Return of record in 100J

Nach dem letzten Titel bleibt der Wagen bei meiner 100J sofort stehen, und die Platte wird nicht ganz zurückgelegt. Nach meiner Information sollte die Platte zurückgelegt, das Laufwerk noch zweimal scannten und dann in der Ruheposition stehen bleiben. Leider hab ich noch kein Manual und Schaltpläne etc. – bin ich gerade am Bestellen. Aber ich denke, das kann nur ein kleiner Fehler sein. Kann mir jemand einen Tip geben?

Antwort:
Bei der 100J (wie auch bei der HF100R, die ich besser kenne) wird die Platte nach dem Abspielen nur so halb ins Magazin gelegt. Bei allen Modellen mit mechanischer Wahlbank wird die Platte nicht ins Magazin zurückgelegt. Erst wenn eine neue Platte gewählt wird, legt der Mechanismus die Platte weg und scannt dann, bis die nächste Wahl gefunden wird.

On my 100J, the carriage stops immediately after the last title and the record is not returned completely. According to my information, the record should be returned, the carriage scaning twice and finally stop in the park position. Answer:
On the 100J (as well as the HF100R, which I know better), the record is only returned halfway into the magazine after playing. On all models with a pinbank the record is not returned into the magazine. Only when a new record gets selected the mechanism returns the record completely and then scans until it has found the next selection.

Parkposition: Laufwerk fährt nach dem letzten Titel hin und her und fährt nicht in Parkposition - Modelle V200, VL200 usw.

Park position: Carriage moves back and forth after the last title and does not scan into the park position - models V200, VL200 etc.

Die Ursache liegt vermutlich am Scan Control Assembly. Diese Einheit befindet sich rechts unter der Grundplatte des Laufwerkes. Wird eine Single gewählt, wird mittels eines Magneten ein Kontakt geschaltet, der mit einer Endschalternocke am Laufwerk zurückgeschaltet wird. Nach zweimaligem Zurückschalten öffnet der Kontakt und die Mechanik bleibt stehen.
Ein Teil dieser Scan-Control-Assembly ist ein verzahntes Pertinaxplättchen, das mit der Zeit die Verzahnung und somit die Funktion verliert.
Abhilfe: die Scan Control Assembly ausbauen und überprüfen, ob dieses die Ursache ist. Wenn ja, muss das Pertinaxplättchen ausgetauscht werden.

Eine andere Möglichkeit könnte im Reversing Switch liegen, wenn dieser rechts zu früh umschaltet.
Vorgehen: versuchen, die Scan Control Einheit von Hand zu schalten, wenn das Werk links unterwegs ist. Das Lager, das aus der Grundplatte herausragt, zweimal von Hand nach hinten drücken. Wenn dann das Laufwerk danach nicht anhält, liegt der Fehler in dem 2 Stufen-Schaltwerk der Scan Control Einheit.

The cause is probably located in the scan control assembly. This unit is located on the right below the chassis of the carriage. If a record is selected, a contact is switched by a solenoid, which is switched back with an end switch cam on the carriage. After switching back twice, the contact opens and the mechansim stops.
One part of this scan control assembly is a toothed pertinax plate, which loses its toothing and therefore its function over time.
Remedy: Remove the scan control assembly and check whether this assembly is the cause. If so, the pertinax plate must be replaced.

Another possibility could be the reversing switch when this shifts to the right too early.
Procedure: Try switching the scan control unit by hand when the carriage is scanning to the left. Push the bearing that protrudes from the chassis backwards twice by hand. If the carriage does not stop afterwards, the fault is located in the 2-stage switching mechanism of the scan control unit.

Zurücklegen der Singles: diese werden bei einer AY nicht richtig zurückgelegt, es knattert

Return of records: Those do not get returned right in Seeburg AY, it rattles

Gestern habe ich folgendes Problem an meiner Seeburg AY-160 festgestellt: nach dem Abspielen einer Platte wird diese manchmal nicht mehr richtig in das Plattenmagazin zurückgeschoben, und es macht sich ein Knattern (tag, tag, tag .....) bemerkbar. Der Klemmplatten-Arm öffnet sich dann nur ca. 10-15 mm. Ab und zu - vielleicht nach 10-20 Sekunden - hört das Knattern auf, und die Platte wird richtig zurückgelegt.
Wenn das Knattern weiterhin besteht, helfe ich dem Klemmplattenarm von Hand ein bisschen nach. Der öffnet sich ja nach links und dann wird die Platte auch wieder richtig zurückgeschoben. Was könnte die Ursache sein?

Antwort:
Ursache: vermutlich arbeitet die Steuerung der Kupplung nicht richtig. Diese wird über eine Hebelei gesteuert, die in die Hauptnocke greift. Leider liegt der Lagerpunkt dieser Hebelei so unglücklich im Laufwerk, dass man da eigentlich nicht rankommt. Demnach wird dort auch kaum bis gar nicht geölt mit der Folge, dass irgendwann das Fett zäh wie Kaugummi wird. Das verzögert das ganze bzw. schaltet die Kupplung, die zwischen Fahr- und Spielbetrieb hin und her schaltet, nicht mehr genügend um, so dass die zwei einrastenden Pin's über ihre Position rutschen. Das verursacht das Klacken.
Abhilfe:
>>> Vorweg: die Mechanik auseinanderzubauen, um an die Hebelei zu kommen ist für einen Laien nicht zu empfehlen! Zudem sollte keine Gewalt angewendet werden. <<<
Das Laufwerk wird in Parkposition gefahren, Rückwand öffnen, so dass man Sicht auf das Laufwerk hat. Jetzt braucht man noch eine Flasche Ballistol und ein altes Handtuch, Putzlappen oder ähnliches. Letzteres wird unter den Laufwagen gelegt. Direkt vor einem sollte man nun eine Welle sehen, die hochkant steht; dann kommen Kupplung und Schnecke und dann nach ca. 8 cm eine Welle, die oben im Laufwagen verschwindet. Rechts von der Kupplung, unter der Schwungmasse, befindet sich die oben erwähnte Hebelei. Hier ist auch das Gestänge, das für das Kuppeln verantwortlich ist. Nun muß der Lagerpunkt unter der querliegenden Hauptnockenwelle gefunden werden - hier muß das Ballistol hin. Am besten dabei die Hebelei von Hand bewegen.

Yesterday I noticed the following problem with my Seeburg AY-160: After playing a record, sometimes it does not get returned into the record magazine properly and a rattling noise (tag, tag, tag .....) is noticeable. The clamping disc arm then opens only approx. 10-15 mm. Every now and then - perhaps after 10-20 seconds - the rattling stops and the record is properly returned.
If the rattling continues, I help the clamping plate arm manually by hand. It opens to the left and then the record is re-stored properly.
What could be the cause?

Answer:
Cause: The clutch control is probably not working properly. This is controlled by a lever that engages in the main cam. Unfortunately, the bearing point of this lever is so unfavourably located in the carriage that you can't actually get to it. As a result, there is little or no lubrication, with the result that the grease eventually becomes as tough as chewing gum. This delays the whole procedure and the clutch, which switches back and forth between scan and play mode, no longer switches sufficiently, so that the two engaging pins slip out of position. This causes the clicking noise.
Remedy:
>>> First of all: Disassembling the mechanism to get to the lever is not recommended for a non-professional! Furthermore, no force should be used. <<<
Move the carriage into park position, open the back door so that you can have a look at the carriage. Now you need a bottle of Ballistol oil and an old towel, cleaning cloth or similar. Place the latter under the carriage. Directly in front of you, you should now see a shaft standing upright; then there are the coupling and worm and then, after about 8 cm a shaft that disappears into the top of the carriage. To the right of the clutch, under the flywheel, there is the above-mentioned lever. The linkage responsible for the clutch is also located here. Now the bearing point under the transverse main camshaft must be found - this is where the ballistol must go. The best way to do this is to move the lever by hand.
