Scopitone Inc. gets established in Miami, FL. Backers are Barnet Sugerman, Abe Green from Runyon Sales, Irving Kaye from same name company, and Alvin I. Malnik, attorney who consolidated this joint venture. Malnik headed Scopitone Inc. and Jack Jules Mitnick became Sales Chief.

[ ... ] Scopitone, the French cinema jukebox soon to be manufactured in Chicago, will be shown at an "insiders" cocktail party and press preview in the Beau Nash Room of the Ambassador West Hotel Wednesday (27) aftrenoon.
U.S. licensing rights for the machine were recently acquired by Tel-A-Sign, a public held manufacturer of point-of-puchase advertising signs. ... Tel-A-Sign has indicated that it will be manufacturing Scopitone in its Chicago plant by the end of the year. Some 100 units are already in the U.S.. The firm expects to have some 1,700 on location within the next two years. [ ... ]

Billboard 8. Aug 1964:
[ ... ] A. A. Steiger, president of Tel-A-Sign, Inc. .... said that the coorporation's prospects were greatly improved by the acquisitation of 80 per cent of Scopitone, Inc. Scopitone is the US licensee for the coin-operated, film-projecting juke box manufactured by Cameca Corporation, Paris. Steiger said Tel-A-Sign will start production of the units, which are currently imported, by January, and plans to make 10,000 a year by 1966. He said Scopitone has orders for the next five years from distributors for 6,000 machines worth $24,000,000. [ ... ]

[ ... ] The U.S. Model was restled "in classic design to appeal more to American taste," Steiger said. "With all components made in this country, it will be easier to service than the French machine." Steiger set production goals of 5,000 machines for this year; 10,000 units in 1966. He estimated the U.S. market at about 100,000 locations. (This compares with some 450,000 juke box locations.) [ ...]

AMEX - mentioned in the previous article - was an investor group of Adrian Anton Steiger (1926-2014), Michael F. Schaible (1911-1985), Milton Louis Altheimer (1903-1968), and the New York lawyer Max Perl (1916-2014).

1966: Jack Cameron Gordon, former president of Seeburg Sales Corp. became president of Scopitone Inc.

Cashbox, Dec 23, 1967 (Part III - Coin Machines, page 4):
[ ...] Scopitone’s parent firm Tel-A-Sign entered into bankruptcy during the year, offering Jack Gordon the opportunity of securing both distribution and manufacturing rights to this line from' the French factory. Gordon’s surprise of the MOA Show was the preview of his Cinematic 50 machine and the announcement of a complete film and machine production program under the firm name of Cameron Audio-Visual International. Gordon’s Cameron Int’l. Ltd. would continue to service present Scopitone operators with regular film releases while the other organization would market the Cinematic line. [ ...]
