Arctic Hare "Timmi"

Product 10 of 16

Bunnies (Leporidae) are located on all continents except the Antarctic. The arctic hare is the one that lives the farthest north, in Arctic regions.
The long ears, the longer back than front legs and the Y-shaped gap between upper lip and nares characterize hares in general. The long ears can be moved individually for a great acoustic detection. They can run up to 60 km/h (ca. 40 miles) and jump up to 3 m (ca. 10').

The fur of the arctic hare is white only during winter, since it would be too easy to spot in summer. The ears are comparatively small, for a hare, because otherwise it would loose to much of his warmth. Indeed, the ears are even smaller the colder the area is in which the hares lives. Furthermore the arctic hare is more socially than hares in general. It can often been seen in groups.

Our plush arctic hare does not like cold and snow onyl, it also likes warm places. It keeps its white fur even in summer time as no camouflage is needed in a lovely home.

The photos show two mountain hares.
