Bunnies (Leporidae) are located on all continents except the Antarctic. Ca. 55 species are known, but most popular is the hare. Nevertheless in some regions it is threatened with extinction.
The long ears, the longer back than front legs and the Y-shaped gap between upper lip and nares characterize hares in general. The long ears can be moved individually for a great acoustic detection. They can run up to 60 km/h (ca. 40 miles) and jump up to 3 m (ca. 10').
Young hares get born after ca. 40 days in a a hallow depression or flattened nest of grass. Compared to rabbits hares are so called precocial, means they get born with a fur and open eyes.

The last photo shows "Mümmel" next to the young hare "Hoppel" (Kö-F5090).
