Domesticated from various wild living ones sheeps are farm animals for about 9000 years. They are spread mostly in Asia, in Europe it plays a less role. Wool production is done mainly in New Zealand and Australia.
The European sheep, so it is said, is a descended from the wild mouflon.

New studies of both the Babraham Institute (GB) and Hampshire College in Amherst (MA, USA) show, that sheep can recognize up to 50 faces of other sheep and even man. Their so called stupid behaviour can usually be watched in a stressful situation. But that can happen with man as well, can't it?

Only in their first year of life the offspring are called "lamb".
