AMI Distribs, Factory Execs In Annual Meet
Rumor New Phono Coming With More Disk Selections
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Aug. 25.: AMI distributors from all parts of the United States as well as Canada, Mexico and Cuba attended a two-day meeting called by the factory here Thursday and Friday (23 -24). While attendance at the sessions was confined to distributors and factory execs. it was reported the reps were given a preview of the firm's new phonograph, which will probably be identified as the Model D.
While no information on a new model was forthcoming at the conclusion of the meeting last night. It was indicated the new unit would feature considerably more selections than the current Model C. However, it seemed certain the firm would also continue with the 40- selection unit, whether or not a machine offering more selections is introduced.
Distributors left here last night for their homes without issuing any statements on the meeting, or confirming that there was a new model. [...]

AMI Brightens D-80 Cabinet With New Trim
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.. Nov. 20. — AMI, Inc., is shipping its Model D-80 with bright new metal trim designed to dress up the cabinet appearance.

Here are the highlights of the changes:
Aluminum side plates have been installed to protect the top panel. Previously, the D-80 used coatings painted the color of the cabinet.
The interior trim, which was red vinyl, is now a bright yellow vinyl with stainless steel trim. The giant lettered arrow down the front of the door panel now has a letter which gives a frosted or etched glass effect.
The decorative front panel, formerly made entirely of wood, is now made of solid polished aluminum, grooved to give it a satin appearance. In place of the painted iron castings formerly used, stainless steel kickplates have been installed. The kickplates are designed to withstand mop splash and the effects of sweeping compounds.
