Lovebird, green

Product 11 of 54

Lovebirds belong to the family of Agapornis. Their name is derived from the Greek Apape = Love and Ornis = bird.

Originated are these small social and affectionate parrots in the south and southeast of the Lake Victoria in northern Tanzania. They live at a height of 1100 - 2000 m.
After many years of wild exports to Europe and other countries, the amount of Lovebirds decreased dramatically. Today it's forbidden to export wild caught birds. Though Lovebirds are not an endangered species yet, they are listed as "near-threatened".

Lovebirds do credit to their name. They show a highly social and strong pair bonding, cuddle and take care of each other. They are monogamous, usually lifelong. Because of this Lovebirds should be kept as a pair only.
We think that our Lovebird would prefer to be with another Lovebird in a new home as well. But if that's not possible for any reason, surely it will happily become a lifelong companion.

With its length of 15 cm (~ 6") the stuffed bird shows the same size like the real birds.
