Thomson's Gazelle

Product 15 of 66
Item #: Kö-F6420
Manufacturer Kösen, size 40 cm (~ 15.8"), brown with white and black

When thinking of gazelles the picture of the Thomson's gazelle (Eudorcas thomsoni) often comes to mind, their most common and known subspecies. They are named after the Scottish explorer Joseph Thomson.
They live in the African savannas and grassland and wear a distinctive black stripe between back and underpart. Very noticeable are their giant leaps when being chased, that still look very gracile. Their beatuy is admired especially among Arab people, and in Arab poetry the beauty of a woman is often compared to that of a gazelle.

The female gazelles have horns, but smaller ones than the males. Still they use theirs to defend their offspring against smaller predators. When attacked by larger ones they have no option than to flee. But being able to speed up to 80 km/h (50 mph) they outrun them quickly.

Gazelles live in large groups, that can count as many as 1000 animals. However, our plush gazelles feel well too in smaller groups, for example together with the buck (Kö-F6430) and the fawn (Kö-F6440), or even just with themselves. Having the opportunity to jump and explore the wideness of their new home will be greatly aprreciated by the plush-gazelle.
