Viking

Product 17 of 19

Vikings were mainly based in Scandinavia, particularly in the southern areas of Sweden and Norway, but as well in East-England, North Scotland, and at the coast of Iceland. Meant is that part of population which was seafaring. Vikings are mostly known until today for their raids on sea. But indeed vikings had been a seafaring trading nation and this all around Europe incl. Turkey and Bagdad.
The active period of the vikings took place in Early Middle Ages. The invaison of Lindisfarne 793 (Scotland) is stated as the beginning, the battle of Hastings (England) lead by the Norman William the Conqueror in 1066 as the end.

The origin of the term "viking" is not clearly found yet. The word itself appeared much later than the Vikings itself. Thoeries go from barbarian warrior, seaman, bay, resting place to the term for a certain distance. Last one is the newest attempt at explanation.

However, all this is not really important for the Viking Figure by the Kösen Manufacturer. It only counts how creative a child makes its play, where the phantasy goes to, and which stories will be found. Maybe it will discover countries bringing back home new species of animals or food. Maybe it will be like "Vicky the Viking" saving his team always from miserable situations having great ideas. Or it will be a successful tradesman bringing his people things they need or desire.
Engange yourself into the world of phantasy and imagination and wonder a child can create in its play.
