This refreshing softdrink was invented in 1886 by John Stith Pemberton, and the rights therefore were aquired by the pharmacy wholesale dealer Asa Griggs Candler for US$ 2300 shortly before the iinventer passed away. In 1892 "The Coca Cola Company" was founded, the trademark rights were protected a year later, and then the softdrink was distrubuted within USA and in neighbouring countries since 1886.
Since then the brand Coca-Cola has written advertising history. The short catchy advertising slogans and giving a lifestyle feeling did make Coca-Cola to the most promoted US product in the 1920s. Targeted advertising strategies and a high recognition value are still the recipe of success until today. The shaped bottle entered the history of design and is known all over the world.
