Ditchburn Music Maker Mark 2R

The last real Ditchburn was the MK2R. This was a conversion from the "Fridge" 78 player (Music Maker Mark 2) to a machine that played 30 45s. The entire top of the cabinet was cut off and replaced with a glass fibre hood assembly, the chrome art deco flash was removed and the mech remodelled with a strange 30 tray stack with 7inch trays. The bottom of the mech was still the same as used on the 78 play machine.

Freddy Bailey: "... that the Music Maker Mark II had been cut down and remodeled to play 30 45's, this was only done on a few model's, (see picture with a very square box style) they then offered to remodel the Music Maker Mark II to their new production model the Music Maker 2R, this was sold as a full production model along side the Telematic model's from Germany,  in 1966 they eventually took on the German Wurlitzer distribution until the early 1970's when they sold off their jukebox division to Mam-In-Play and just retained  their background music division, eventually selling that to Autobar in the mid 1970's."
