Die LPC480 hatte zum einen die Funktion, sowohl Singles mit 45 als auch mit 33 RPM abzuspielen, was meistens Intermix genannt wird.
Dafür ist die Auto-Speed-Unit verantwortlich, die von 33 auf 45 rpm umschaltet, wenn eine Single mit großem Mittelloch eingespannt wird.
Darüber hinaus konnte man 20 kleine LP-Schallplatten, die max. drei Lieder je Seite hatten, für eine sog. "Albumwahl" einsortieren (nicht zu verwechseln mit den reg. 12" LPs). Hier wurden dann immer beide Seiten gleich hintereinander gespielt, auch wenn nur eine gewählt wurde.  Natürlich war der Preis für eine Wahl dann auch teurer, was man entsprechend einstellen konnte. Diese 20 Alben waren in der obersten Leiste in Form von Miniatur-Plattencovern sowie in der Coverablage oberhalb des Titelhalters zu sehen. Die Alben bekamen im Titelhalter und im Plattenmagazin einen besonderen Platz, damit die Wahl korrekt umgesetzt wurde.
Der Name "LPC480" kommt von "Long Play Console" und dass theoretisch, sollten nur solche Alben einsortiert werden, 480 Titel spielbar wären.

Die LPC480 zieht die Singles nicht beim Fahren von rechts nach links heraus, sondern spielt beide Seiten nacheinander beim Fahren von links nach rechts.

Model LPC480 came with the feature to play both 45 and 33 rpm records which was usually called "Intermix". The auto-speed unit switches the speed from 33 to 45 rpm when a record with large centre hole comes.
Furthermore 20 liitle LP-records with a max. of three songs per side could be inserted for a so called "album selection" (please note: not 12" records are meant. This feature made that always both sides of a LP-record were played in row even if only one side was selected.
Of course the price for these selections was more expensive which could be adjusted by the operator. These 20 album had been displayed both in the upper trim as miniature LP-covers and above the title strip older where the record covers are.  Within the title strip holder and the magazin these albums got an extra place so these selections were made correctly.
The name "LPC 480" comes from "Long Play Console" and - at least theoretically - if only album records were inserted 480 tunes could be played.
 

Model LPC480 does not pick up the records when scanning from right to the left but will play both left and right sides while scanning from left to the right.
