New build AMI K cabinet

The K cabinet is a really well constructed and strong unit but was not meant to ever be taken apart as each panel was glued and screwed together and a lot of ripping of veneers occurs during the demolition. This is made harder because all of the panels interlock and grow from the base.
The one major problem with taking it apart was trying to work out how it was put together in the first place. This was not evident because as each panel was put on, it was then covered by another board or panel that was glued and screwed over the proceeding panel thus hiding all of the preceeding screws. You can be assured at some stages I wondered whether I should have taken it on as I found it frustrating at times and wondering whether the boards I made were going to fit and have the correct alignments at the end. Before I finally put it together I screwed the parts together, measured the result and only took it apart and finally glued it when I was reasonably sure it was ok.                                                                     Pictures and info by Warwick
