Nova Apparate-GmbH; 1953 – 2002

In 1953 NOVA was founded as a trading company for coin machines by Alfred W. Adickes and took over the German and European general agency for Rock-Ola jukeboxes and US amusement machines.
Already in 1927 at the age of 21, A.W. Adickes stepped into the coin machine industry (Vogel & Halke, Hamburg), and in 1931 he founded  his own company called Scott, Adickes & Co. in England. Affiliates in Madrid and Paris were established as well as contacts into the USA, among others to David C. Rockola who he met for the first time in 1930 already. The plan to import of jukeboxes in 1939 was stopped due to WW2 which did result in the closing of his British business.
After being a soldier for five years and the participation in an im- and export business in Hamburg the NOVA Apparate-GmbH was founded in 1953. Besides importing, some jukeboxes had been assembled in Germany too and got an own amplifier, some even a German power supply. So called console types models and hideaways had been produced partially to reduce the sales price.
Within the years  next to jukeboxes amusement games, piballs, billiard, and TV games were distributed.
In 1963 the general distribution for Shuffle Games of the US manufacturer United Mfg. Co. was taken over.
In 1981 NOVA was aquired by the Gauselmann Group and closed in ca. 2002.
