Genetic analysis have shown that the dog started developing from the wolf about 135.000 years ago. Yet it is highly unlikely that the wolvess were simply domesticated. Contrary to dogs they loose their tameness when they become young grown ups. It is assumed that there had been some wolves that were more trusting and thus dared to go near the upcoming settlings of men. They discovered this way an ecological niche, because there always had been some leftovers. Thus the more trusting wolves had a selective benefit and over thousands of years they evolved into their own species: The dog. Humans were able to breed these for special purposes and thus ensured their survival and expansion.
One of these purposes was known in Ancient Egypt already: Hunting.

The Schnauzer is originated in Germany in the 15th and 16th centuries. There are three breeds: Giants, standard and miniature. The Miniature Schnauzer is a smart, intelligent and brave dog. Like the standard Schnauzer it was a great rat and rabbit catcher. Nowadays the dog is used for tracking in police, customs, or military, because of its very sensible nose. Miniature Schnauzers are not afraid of confrontation, but reserved against strangers at first. But normally they are vivid and attentive fellow. They are great atchdogs, too.

Typical for a Schnauzer is the longly bearded snout, which gave him his name (Note: Schnauzer is the German word for mustache), and the busy eyebrows. Those are easy to see on the picture of our plush toy as well.
