The Shiba-Inu is an approved Japanese dog, which is originated from the mountains at the seas of Japan. Originally they were used for bird and small game hunts. Due to cross-bredding with English hunting dogs, the original Shiba-Inu became rare. In 1928 a systematic breed began. Since 1937 the Shiba-Inu is a "Natural Monument" in Japan.

No matter if the fur is coloured in sesame, black-sesame, tan, or in red-sesame, it needs to be combined with white spots at certain areas like on the cheeks, inside the ear and legs, on the underjaw etc. This kind of white is called "Urajiro" in Japan.
