Novelty 2024

The polar bear (Ursus maritimus) lives in the Arctic. Though it's fur seems to be white, indeed it is without any pigments. Each single hair is hollow and lead the sunrays to the black skin. Due to this fact and the thick layer of fat they can resist the cold up to -50°C (-58°F).
The maternity of polar bears takes ca. 8 months. The cubs, often two, get born in a snowdrift where they stay for three months. After this the long and exhausting journey for food starts.

Although the amount of polar bears did raise since 1966 the animals are affected by the climate change and the melting polar seas. Since 2006 it is listed as an endangered species.

Our soft, fluffy polar bear cub has already left its birth snow cave and is following its mother (second photo, Kö-F-7170) through the ice in search of food. They also take breaks to gather new strength.
Perhaps they will encounter other polar bears with their cubs and play around together. Just as the polar bear cub would love to do in a nursery. In any case, it is a friend who, with its fluffiness, is always up for exciting adventures.
