Next to seven more species the brown bear (Ursus arctos) is mostly spread. It lives basically by itself on a fix territory: in the velds of tundra, alpine meadows and dark forests. The brown bear can be found in North America, Skandinavia, Russia, Japan, East Europe, the Near East, China and in Mongolia.
In South and Middle Europe in Italy, Spain, France and Austria some brown bears could be settled again.

The archetype of this lovely plush bear sow "Jurka" is the living Jurka in the "Alternativ Park for Wolves and Bears" in the Black Forest, Germany. The real Jurka is the mother of brown bear Bruno which was shot in Bavaria after chasing sheep in 2006.
Originally Jurka and Bruno were caught in Slovenia and released into the wild in Italy. But after getting fed by people both lost timidity and hence some trouble started.
Finally in 2010 Jurka was brought to and moved as the first brown bear into this new built outdoor enclosure where she can enjoy her new freedom. The last three photos - courtesy to "Alternativ Park for Wolves and Bears" - show this very well. We think she has fun!

Due to the 10th anniversary of the "Alternativ Park for Wolves and Bears" a limited edition of just 300 units from precious mohair was produced; of course after spending quite some to to watch, study, take pictures, draw and make a design and mold.
Striking feature of "Jurka" is the cut at her nose. Compare the pictures of the plush and real Jurka!
While the real Jurka has a weight of 260 kg the plush bear is much more light weight of course.

Each Bear Sow "Jurka" comes with its own certificate and number.
