Manufacturer Kösen, size 19 cm (~7.5), white, swivvel head
Limited edition of 100 units.

The polar bear (Ursus maritimus) lives in the Arctic. Though it's fur seems to be white, indeed it is without any pigments. Each single hair is hollow and lead the sunrays to the black skin. Due to this fact and the thick layer of fat they can resist the cold up to -50°C (-58°F).

Although the amount of polar bears did raise since 1966 the animals are affected by the climate change and the melting polar seas. Since 2006 it is listed as an endangered species.

Smilla is still a baby polar bear and sleeps in it's basket. Isn't is cute?
On the occasion of the annual "Teddy Bear and Plush Toy Animal Festival" in Bad Kösen the manufacturer holds a contest. Each teddy bear artist can file a teddy bear. It is intended to find the nicest one - and to produce this one in a limited edition of 100 units only.
In 2018 the winner is "Smilla" created by the artist Shirley Scheibehenne (Germany).
