The platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) can be called an exceptional animal, that lives in the east of Australia. Its look is best described by comparison to other animals. But not only one is needed for this, but several. It has a broad beak like a duck, a flat tail and webbing at its feet like a beaver, claws like a bear and a coat like an otter.
Moreover it is the only mammal that lays eggs. An absolutely unique animal. It was so extraordinary that it was considered fake after its first discovery. Even its foraging is unusual: It can barely see or hear, but perceives the electrical signals elicited by other animals. And if this would just be not enough - male platypli have a toxic spur that they use to disperse competitors during mating season.

Platypli live as mavericks and are nocturnal. They swim through lakes and rivers in search of crabs, insects and worms. They even close their eyes and ear-openings under water. Only reluctantly they move away from the water, mostly only to crawl into their underground burrows.

This marvellous animal is a joy to look at! The plush platypus "Rena" by Kösen makes this possible in your own living room. Furthermore it is also perfect to play and cuddle with. Immerse when playing into the wonderful world of animals and join many adventures. We are sure, every child will agree on this.
