The Great Tit (Parus major), of course belonging to the family of tits of course. Originally it was located in forests only. But like many other birds it followed humansinto the villages and cities. Now it can be found in garden and parks as well. Still, it prefers broad-leaved forests, but can be found in mixed forests, too.
Great Tits are located in Europe, eastbound on Middle-European parallels all the way to Japan, southbound to the Caspian Sea and in North-West-Africa.

Great Tits are sedentary birds, means they stay at one location wole year round. They are cavity nesters and like birdhouses a lot. To offer them no competition with larger birds like Starlings the hole should be about 32 mm.

Of course this offered Blue Tit "Pit" will love a birdhouse. But it also will appreciate a nest in the shelf of a kids room.
